Caution:
- When using a cleaning solution, care should be taken to ensure that the correct one designed for the specific application is used so as to ensure that no damage to articles is caused ( e.g. light metals such as chrome - and nickel plated objects);
- Water without an appropriate cleaning solution added thereto will not clean as effectively;
- The tank should be filled to the level indicated (indentation in tank) so as to ensure optimal performance;
- Objects should not be placed on the floor of the tank. They should be placed in suitable holders.
Every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of this specification. However, due to continuous development and improvement the goods supplied may vary in detail from those described or illustrated. The Labcon Utrasonic bath is manufactured under license by Laboratory Marketing Services (Pty) Ltd.

Lid for bath: made from 304 stainless steel and fitted with rubber stoppers to suppress noise from vibration
Insert baskets: made from steel mesh (chromed). The handles are designed to fit over the lip of the bath
Test tube rack: made from 304 stainless steel
and fitted with rubber stoppers at the base to prevent surface contact
with the base of the tank. Designed for 100mm, 150mm or 200mm depth
tanks, the diameters of the holes provide for flexible configurations to user
specification from 16mm to 25mm.
Clamps: designed to hold Erlenmeyer flasks. They may be fitted into the
insert baskets
Beaker rack: made from 304 stainless steel, beakers may be inserted. The
rack is fitted with a lip to secure it over the top of the bath.
A rubber band is provided to hold beakers at the desired height.
Sieve rack: made from 304 stainless steel, it secures sieves while being
cleaned.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
To enhance cleaning, it is recommended that a special purpose cleaning or disinfecting liquid solution
be used. Care should be taken to ensure that the correct solution is used or the desired cleaning
effect may not be achieved. The possibility of damage to articles being cleaned or disinfected and to
the stainless steel tank, exists.
Care should be taken to ensure that the solution to be used is suitable for:
- disinfecting ( e.g. of fungicides ). Always ensure that the appropriate certification has been granted, such as a CE- mark according to CE-Directive (e.g.93/42 EEC for medical devices ), and/or approval by a certified, licensed or authorised agency;
- pre-cleaning and/or basic cleaning and/or intensive cleaning;
- that the characteristics of the solution conform to benchmark standards - excluding aldehydes (y/n); excluding phenol (y/n/); excluding chlorine (y/n); the removal of contaminants such as secretians, blood, incrustations, etc.;
- the material being cleaned, e.g.: Steel • Rubber • Acrylic • Stainless Steel • Light Metal • Tin • Zinc • Certain Alloys • Acrylic glass • Glass • Plastic • PVC • Precious Metals
We recommend that you consult your distributor / agent for an appropriate recommendation.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ULTRASONIC CLEANING
- Ultrasound occurs at frequencies above 18KHz. Typically, cleaning action occurs from 27KHz to 40KHz.
- The vibrations cause tiny vacuum bubbles to form resulting in the "cold boiling" of water. As a result, the bubbles implode creating a "pressure push" which causes particles adhering to a surface of an object to be removed.
- The vibrations in the water are produced by an electro mechanical device called a transducer, which is secured to the outside surface of the tank.
- Ultrasound produces a cleaning action which penetrates holes, pores and cavities. It cleans thoroughly in a relatively short time, and produces a gentle cleaning action which protects the surface of the object being cleaned. Used in conjunction with a cleaning agent it is a highly efficient and effective process.
- Cleaning solutions which are heated reduce cleaning time. However, care should be taken when using disinfecting solutions at temperatures in excess of 40degC because of coagulation.
