Labcon Safety Storage Cabinets have been designed and manufactured to conform to standards for use in the Republic of South Africa as well as the North American standards NFPA 30 (2003 ), and NFPA 251 in respect of flammable proof cabinets.
The cabinets are made using 1,2mm mild cold rolled steel, are double walled with a 38mm gap, are fitted with sturdy industrial hinges and employ a three point locking mechanism.
Carefully positioned perforations permit a ventilation system, if required. For this purpose, inlet and outlet apertures are provided on top of the unit. The unit can be connected using flexible hosing to an existing air ducting system which exhausts air outside of the working area, or alternatively an air extraction and purification system may be fitted to the cabinet which will permit the purified air to be recirculated in the working area. Filters should be replaced regularly to ensure the effectiveness of the system. If no ventilation system is required, the apertures may be sealed.
The cabinets are powder coated a neutral motorcraft grey, and are supplied fitted with two dished shelves and a sump for containing spillage. The shelves should not be moved while under load as they are not sliding shelves. Rubber mats for the shelves may, on request and at an additional cost, be supplied. The flammable proof units contain thermal ceramic fibre board rated for use up to 1260º C, fitted between the inner and outer walls of the cabinet.
